Does anyone know of a way to get either a separate browse tab for folders or have the recent activity show subfolders directly? We use a pretty deep folder structure (not interested in debating that right now), and it would be very helpful to be able to quickly get back to a sub folder without having to choose the product and all the parent folders first. We never use any of the other "stuff" under Products or Libraries. Just "Folders". Thanks.
In Windchill 9.1, after checking out objects or simply adding them to a workspace, you were returned to the folder you were viewing before the add/checkout action. In Windchill 10.2 you are taken to the target workspace instead. Is there a preference, or some other way to restore the 9.1 behavior? Our users do not want to have to re-navigate to the product/library subfolder every time they add something else to their workspace.
Just to be clear, this is using the standalone browser. The embedded browser in Creo is used to view the workspace.

I have steped in between of manual migration process for pro-e WF 4 + intralink 9 to creo 2 + WC Pdmlink 10.2.
ONe of our guy was expert any doing the migration of around 30,000 WF files i.e. Prt, asm, drw.
steps:
1. Open wf4 in session of Intralink add the assemblies to workspace where dependent = required.
2. In Workspace select all file do export from workspace and choose local directory to export.
3. Go to Creo 2 Windchill 10.2 session workspace perform import to workspace and perform checkin
this scenario is Ok when doing first time.
now here comes the issue I am facing, migration is done for 24000 files and now the delta of. 5000 files is remaining which is for last 6 month in Intralink 9.
when I search for last modified files during 180 days it results in 1000 files.
now when I am following the steps 1&2 above, I have around 5000 files in workspace coming because of dependent = Required.
now there are about, 90 assemblies 100+ drw and rest is Prt and Some family tables.
when I randomly search for these part numbers in WC 10.2 common space there are already available.
now when Import 100 part Asm with part and family tables i.e. exported files to Creo 2 Wc 10.2 session workspace I can see the modified locally Icon in workspace.
i Selected all and do Update action, in the screen nothing is getting stricked out which was expected, I am bit confused now in order to take these files in Windchill 10.2 common space.
need you guys suggestion and advice to handle this situation.

I so want to do certain 'basic' things in Windchill that I don't seem to be able to manage. I've been trying to learn Windchill; but, 3rd party books are scant (if they exist at all). And I don't have the small fortune required to negotiated PTC University. The online Help is atrocious. I simply want to be able to add an attribute (create a new attribute) for (or within) an existing document, e.g. a reference document with no content, and I want to be able to search (advanced search) to be able to produce results on a single keyword found in the content of the attribute created for that document. For example, I want an attribute titled "Capability Study Notes" for some manufactured part, and I want to be able to search through all parts that have that created attribute, for a created reference document, that contain the word "cpk result." Is this not possible in Windchill? Is there some way that this can be managed that just isn't possbile on the intuitive level in Windchill? (I don't seem to have the ability to add attributes to anything in Windchill. There's no option available to do so, in what I'm able to discern.) Is there any online content that describes how to produce the results that I'm looking for? I subscribe to Scribd; but, I have found nothing there that answers this particular question. I'll take any insight into this, even if it is delivered pejoratively. Please help!!! Thanks!

I did this in our V9.1 environment, but haven't found out how to do this in V10.2 yet. Also, I would like to customize the colors used by the browser.

I am in the process of upgrading from 9.1 M070 to 10.2 M020.
My company use a lot of custom classes. All of these have compiled successfully - thankfully. However one reported a warning because the following method is now deprecated (and this doesnt appear in the latest Javadoc, no reference of the method does and certainly no reference of what to use instead):
wt.change2.VersionableChangeItem.getCreator();
Now when I look at "wt.change2._VersionableChangeItem" there is another "getCreator()" method that the above seems to override. I think I can use this method. However, this begs the question, what is the point of the underscore classes? Are we supposed / "allowed" to use them - in some programming languages (e.g. Python) prefixing "_" is another way of saying "please leave well alone"?

We have a user who says that changes to SolidWorks CAD files saved to his Windchill PDMLink 10.1 workspace did not get saved.
He spent a few hours updating a drawing yesterday, saved to his workspace and now this morning he says the work was not saved?
On the Windchill side the object has been revised and is checked out at E.0. So in Windchill, there are no updated files.
In his workspace I see the same E.0.
Is there a different location to see the change history?
Any ideas?
For a product that has multiple external collaborating entities (suppliers, design partners) , there is only a single project related to the product and multiple folders are created for managing suppliers with in the same project. say folder1 for supplier1. folder2 for supplier2, folder3 for designPartner3 etc... And collaborating partner users have access only to their folders.
And there is often a business need to share the same design data with multiple partners. Which means that we need to be able to share the same data to multiple folders in the same project, which in Windchill 10.1 OOTB seems to be restricted for now.
Is anyone aware of any solution for this? Or is there a better strategy for handling multiple partners than using multiple folders?

I am working on some data migration in Windchill for that can anyone suggest me how should I use XML data loaders for EPMDocument like .asm, .Prt file in Windchill as of now I can load the WTPart and WTDocuments but not the EPMDocument
i need to add an editable Additional Comments column to Affected Objects table to be used in Problem Report and Change Request.
How do i do that?
1. created new attribute called ADDITIONAL_COMMENTS
2. added to Affected Activity Data type, wt.change2.AffectedActivityData.
3. i updated the com.ptc.windchill.enterprise.change2.change2clientResource.java with the following:
@RBEntry("Additional Comments")
@RBComment("Label to be used in the Table Views")
public static final String CHANGE_LINK_DESCRIPTION2 = "CHANGE_LINK_DESCRIPTION2";
4. updated the wncWeb.jar file
- what else do I need to do??
- I want to make this attribute editable while adding parts to Affected Objects. Right now, it does not allow to do so.
The only OOTB attribute it Comments is editable.

I know you can re-build Applets (and maybe some more stuff) using below command. Does this also compile them?

If ant is used in the compilation process, it should be possible to change target version using below syntax:
<javac srcdir="${src.dir}" destdir="${compile.to}" target="1.6">
Have anyone tried this or experienced the same problem?

I'm fairly new to these boards (first time poster, long time reader) and I cannot seem to find an answer to my problem.
I have been asked to export a list (in Excel or CSV format) of ALL parts, drawings, assemblies, etc. that exist in our system (along with their respective revision number). Is this even possible? If not, is there a work-around to get this information?
I'm thinking that it may be something that I can do in Report Manager, but unfortunately I cannot access this function (might be due to a Java incompatiblity?). If I do need to use Report Manager, can somebody please recommend the Java version that I should be using in order for Report Manager to work?
We are currently using Windchill PDMLink, Release 9.0, Datecode M050. If you need any other information, please let me know.
(Just an FYI, I saw on PTC that Datecode M050 was part of Release 9.1, not 9.0. However, my system is telling me it's 9.0. So it could be either one of those.)

When I want to Upload files to Windchill 10.0, there is Notification that "Java applet blocked by Security Settings", even I already included the site to Trusted site in IE 9, and set the Security Level in Java 7.11 to Low, but still not working and sometimes IE crashed, How to solve this problems? please advise?

I am facing problems with cache in cluster environment. it is getting corrupted because of which , we arae facing some availability of system is not reliable and to resove this we offten restart the system.
In current environment, we have 2 Slave nodes and 1 master and in each slave node there are 3 MS configured and on master 2 BGMS are configured.
Is there any way to avoid cache corruption problem or improve the synchronisation process accross nodes.
I have a questions regarding setting documents attributes based on variables in a workflow. I have been able to pull the attributes of a document and set them as variables in a workflow, but was wondering if there is a way to do it in the opposite way? Is there any java code that will work in 10.2 to accomplish this? Lets say I have an approver signature in the workflow( That they filled out in the workflow) I need to take pass that signature back into the soft type?
