import Project by LoadFromFile

Hi.

How I can import Project data with the use of wt.load.LoadFromFile?
Where can I find examples? Based on a example WTPart import in "Windchill Data LoadingReference and BestPractices Guide" do next:

 

>windchill wt.load.LoadFromFile <path>\Windchill\loadXMLFiles\generalProjectTemplate.xml -CONT_PATH/wt.inf.container.OrgContainer=MuOrg/Default/Projects

 

And got the result code: 9 or 5. What does this code and where you can see a list of these result codes?
Is the correct method I use to load data Project?

Java retrieve Manufacturer Sourcing Status (amlPreferenceData)

After I get ManufacturerPart, I would like to get its Manufacturer Sourcing Status (amlPreferenceData). Which field should I use? e.g. Part Number = mfgPart.getNumber(). Manufacturer Sourcing Status = mfgPart.getAMLPreferenceData()? I can not find it. Please help!

Control on Info page for sorting the attributes

Hi All,

 

        In Windchill 10.1, how we can have control on the part infpo page panels. 

 

Example:

 

I need to sort the attributes in instance attribute panel in Part info page.  so ,is there any way we can have control on the attribute panel or  control on allPartMasterAttributes through data utility?..please share your suggestions.

 

In windchill 9,through BatchAttributeComparator ,we have control on attribute display.in 10.1,its not working

*New Document upload problems

Our company is new to Windchill and were still climbing the learning curve. Currently I am attempting to upload a PDF to windchill and I am getting a bunch of errors. I have looked around for a solution but I cant find anything. This is what happens:

1. As soon as I click "New Document" this windows error pops up. I click install and it loads 1/4 of the page

2. After it loads a small amount of the page the same error pops up again an I click "Install"

3. After that the screen looks correct except for a black X where a "browse" icon should be. When I click "Browse" This error pops up and when I press OK it kicks me back to the New Document scree, not letting me browse for a file.

4. If i manually input in a file location then try to "Finish" I get this error.

 

 

If anyone has seen anything like this before or has any ideas for how to help I would appreciate it!

Windchill 10.2 Revision edit help!

Our company recently started using windchill and currently I am the one in charge of moving all our parts into the database. Things are moving slowly but everything seems to be going in fine. The problem were running into however is with the products 'Revision" state. I need a way to manually choose what revision the part is. I can select a part and press "Revise" but that only moves the part one revision step (from A to B for example). Some of the parts I am imputting are on their 15th or 20th revision so it would be impractical to do this for every part. Is there anyone that can help?

Show/Hide Documents in Structure Default

Right now 10.1 by default hides all the reference documents attached to a part when viewing the structure and you have to right click and select show/hide related information and select documents for them to show up in the structure as children of the particular part they are referenced by.

 

Is there a way to have them by default be shown in the structure without having to click that show/hide deal?

How to restrict log file size in 10.2 pdmlink

Hi ..

 

I have windchill pdmlink 10.2 m010 installed.  it looks like this version has only one log file i.e. log4j copared to erlier versiosn.

 

in earlier version we used to have three  2  excluding GC file for each MS. i.e. MS.log and log4j

 

I used same manage file property in 10.2 to restrict the file size to 9mb but did not worked

 

so is there any other property for 10.2 ..  let me know how to restrict the file size in 10.2

Missing Soft Attribute Values on Documents in Product Structure Tab

I have configured a custom view for the Product Structure table on the Structure tab of a Manufacturer Part in Windchill 9.1 located inside of a Product. This view includes soft-attributes on the Manufacturer Part and the describing Drawing (soft-type) Documents. The BOM view of parts show the configured soft-attributes on the part objects, but with the describing documents shown, the columns that apply to the only to the Drawings are displaying blank. I can confirm that the documents are the correct type and have values populated for these attributes using the details page.

 

The question is does the structure view support asymetric attribute requests for multiple object types in the same view (the Structure tree)? We are slowly migrating from 9.1 to 10.x and I thought I may have read that there is increased support for querying a set of attributes that only apply to subsets of the objects, but that could have just been for the API layer. I know that the same custom view will work in 10.2 (I tried it out), but we have a customer that was promised that we would try to resolve the issue before we migrate (ugh).

Issue with seeing comments from workflow

Hello

 

I was wondering if any of you had any ideas on how to sort out an issue that I am having.

 

 

I have a pretty simple review, approve release workflow that is initiated every time a certain type of object is created.

 

Now when it goes through the default type activities in the workflow you can add a comment in the comment field and select a routing.

 

What I am having a problem with is the fact that these comments, which should be showing up in the process status section of the task but they only appear if you are an admin and I need them to be there for standard users.

 

Is there also a better way of communicating changes/comments on a standard task to the next user in the cahin other than this process.

 

Bear in mind that I am not a developer and have limited Java knowledge. I just utilise the configuration tools to help me get thesystem up and running.

How to find all drawings required for an assembly ?

What is the best approach to finding all Drawings that are required for a certain high-level assembly to be built ? I can generate a +/- 5000 part structure and request for the CAD documents to be shown, but Windchill freezes on this one.

 

Since we're not sure of that drawing's number, folder or even context, we require a really generic solution. A Search based on number, attribute, ... is no option.

 

I've started looking into Query Builder, but I'm not really familiar with such tools to find a quick solution for this. I'm not even sure if QueryBuilder is the right tool for this...

Multiple caches problem.

Hello,

 

Me and my colleagues have had this issue for some time now.

 

Everytime we open several instances of ProE with PDM Link, the application opens up in a different cache that is created on our C:\ drive: "PROD", "PROD_1", "PROD_2" etc.

Is there any way we can control in which cache to open ProE, or is there a way to switch between the caches? Or in fact could we have just one fixed cache everytime we open ProE?

This is very frustating because when we're modifying a part and we need to have the original opened up separately for troubleshooting with another ProE session, we cant find the latest Workspace because it's in a different cache.

 

Also when we start work again it's very hard of keeping track in which Workspace we worked in the past, if it was in a different cache, and where exactly is the latest saved version.

 

We are using Creo Elements(WF5) M210 64bit, with PDMLink 10.0 and we will upgrade to 10.2.

Windchill Cluster

Hi,

 

I have configured the master server with 2 slaves with all revelant properties as per the windchill advance guide. I have the dedicated load balancer but do not know the prerequesties for configuring the load balancer. May I know the load balancer type required and any specific settings to be followed.

 

Web server works if I try with load balancer URL "It Works" but we type the full name http://xyz.domainname.com/Windchill, the page loads just with PTC and if I click on that, it turns to message "Temporary server is unavailable."

 

 

Can we access / login to windchill via slave server / master server URL in cluster environment without load balancer for testing, just to confirm that windchill works fine and no issues. So we can concentrate on load balancer part.

Using InfoEngine to get Part classification information

Im trying to get the classification.path attribute values associated with a given part. Issue CS166604, on the PTC support site seems to suggest that you can do this by passing in ALL_SOFT_CLASSIFICATION_ATTRIBUTES as the attributes parameter on the Query-Objects webject. This does not work for me. Prior to 10.2 you seem to have been able to use  classification.path but that seems to no longer work since according to them... "The data model for classification has changed and the old classification infrastructure is no longer used in 10.2" . Passing in "Classification" as the attribute parameter returns the class name but I need the path. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the classification path?

Noobie question on formats

I've been using Pro/Engineer for 562 years, but Windchill is new to me.... still have trouble not thinking like folders and subfolders.

 

I create a new part and drawing offline, i.e., on my hard drive or on the company server. The drawing has a format with title block, etc. We have this format on the company server (i.e. a drive letter), but the definitive version with the same name is on Windchill. If, when the part and drawing is complete, I check them in to Windchill, what happens to the format file? Does it load up as well? I don't want that to happen. What I want is, next session that I open that drawing (from Windchill) I want the format to come from Windchill, not from the drive.

Desktop Integration and office documents

We have many .docx documents that we want to maintain in Windchill (10.2). These documents however have links to other documents (e.g. "see this document for more information regarding X").

 

Is this also possible when the documents are in Windchill?

 

And if it is possible, how do we know that the link points to the latest version of the document?
