Where did the Open in Creo View go from the version history table of a cad file?

We just upgraded from PDMLink 10.1 M040 to 10.1 M050 this past weekend.

 

I have one user that said in M040 you could right-click on a link in the Version History table of a CAD file and the menu would display an option to Open in Creo View.  Now in M050 it's not there.

Can anyone confirm that was there in M040?  If so why would PTC remove that?  And why remove it BETWEEN BUILDS?

Hi,

 

Can someone teach me how to create OIR's.

 

I'm looking out for creating OIR in Windchill 10.0 such that When I Check in a CAD assembly into Windchill Product, the CAD files including drawings go to a specific Folder in the product and the associated WTPART's go to another specified Folders.

I use "Search-Objects". If get the name from the form input as Where condition. It works.

Use the following  syntax. The result is blank.

Hi,

 

does someone know how to use the Query builder in Windchill 8?

 

I would like to extract the attributes "Modified by", "Last Modified", "Created by", "Created", "Updated by", "Last updated" and the number of newest version of each document stored in Windchill.

 

I have asked already a similar question, but the focus on that question was to get this information via SQL query.

I am looking for assistance on creating a workflow template that would do the following:

 

If an EPM document is manually (outside the revision process) set to "in work" and stays at this state for more than 3 days, the workflow would send them an e-mail reminder to set back to released state.  When the user gets the e-mail, the workflow would start over and give the user another 2 days before emailing again, this would continue until the item is back to released.  This would jab the user to get the item back to released ASAP.

 

The revision process (we revise from release which creates a new version at in work) and new docs would not be subject to this process.  We don't run into this often....be we do have new users that sometimes make mistakes and set cad docs to in work, then forgetting to clean up after themselves.  I cannot lock this function down as we use family tables everywhere....BAD.  We have a test server, so I can mess around as much as needed.

 

This will be my first workflow....so keep the answers to a Windchill 6 month old level.

Data Package automation by customization

The Data Package functionality is a perfect way to share information with external parties. The creation of data packages is however labor intensive, especially when it comes to predefined (fixed) package content. Therefore we are look for customization to automate steps in the creation of Data Packages and defining Deliveries.

 

Steps we would like to automate are:

  • Apply table views to filter package content
  • Lock the package and defining file extensions to include/exclude
  • Creation of a delivery (Recipient Name is known as an attribute at the data package)
  • ZIP Package for Delivery
  • Set security labels at the Delivery based on the most severe security label of content in the ZIP file.
  • Sending the package
  • Sharing the created ZIP file to a ProjectLink environment (known as an attribute at the data package)

 

Anyone having experience with solving any of the issues mentioned? A code examples would be very helpful.

Default to Latest Released configuration during Checkout

I’m sure we can’t be the first folks running into this.  I’ve searched the archives, but not been able to find anything thus far.

 

We have a requirement driving us to look at the default configuration or filter during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

 

We are looking to default these actions to Latest Released data (or In Work if no version has been Released), there are 2 preferences that look hopeful in this cause, but sadly the value options do not provide this functionality.

 

Preferences:                                                               Values:

 

Set Configuration for Add to Workspace                   Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

Set Configuration for Check Out                                Default/Latest/As_Stored

 

There are also some default configuration filters (Latest/Baseline/Promotion Request/Baseline), but these too do not provide Latest Released.

 

The only way we have found, it to create a configuration filter, which can specify to first retrieve Latest Released, then Latest In Work (or whichever states are required).  However, there does not seem to be any option during Add to Workspace or Checkout for either saving this configuration filter to use again, or to set it as the default to use every time.

 

From the structure page on a checked in object, there IS the option to Save a configuration filter, but these do not show up during Add to Workspace or Checkout.

Getting the com.infoengine.au.serviceunavailableexception while searching

Experts,

 

Everything was working fine, until today morning I walked into office and started to search for a document in WIndchill 9.1 PDMLink and received the com.infoengine.au.serviceunavailableexception.

Pl see attached snapshot....

Quick help is appreciated, being the administrator, i am stumped by this error with no solution in sight.

Open Multiple Drawings in Creo View

Hi All,

 

Can anyone tell me if there is a more efficient way of opening multiple drawings in Creo View from Windchill? Currently I have this method:

  1. Select drawings
  2. Click Copy
  3. Close yellow banner (to get to the Quick Links button)
  4. Quick Links → Clipboard
  5. Select drawings again
  6. Open in Creo View

 

Preferred solution would be an "Open multiple items in Creo View" button in the search results table, and in any other relevant locations, but I don't think this exists. Does anybody have a better way than mine? It seems a lot of work for a simple task.

 

I'm using Windchill 10.2 M020 and Creo View 3.0 M020.

Workflow Auto Generated Document number

In the OOTB Change Request workflow, we have the number field set to Auto generate.

In the OIR for Change Request, we have the following lines for the number field.

When we create new Change Requests, we get a random higher than-the-last number for the change request and what we are looking for is a controlled sequential numbering scheme.

Last week, I created 3 CRs, CR-00021, CR-00023 and CR-00041. This week, the next one created was CR-00061.

What do I need to change in the OIR to get the system to give me a steady sequential numbering scheme? If Windchill cannot do it automatically, we may have to fall back to a manually entered numbering scheme from an external database which we are trying to replace with Windchill Change Management. We do not want to maintain 2 systems for tracking changes.

Workflow should execute when EPMDocument Checkin not when EPMDocument Save and Uploaded

Hello ,

 

I created workflow, workflow need to execute when EPMDocument checked in from PROE/AutoCAD. Workflow is set in EPMDocument lifecycle INWORK State.

However the workflow is called when EPMDocument save and Uploaded. which is wrong. workflow should execute when EPMDocument checked in.

To fix this issue , I added synchronize robot on check-in event of EPMDocument at beginning of workflow but issue not solved . Workflow starts when EPMDocument save and uploaded. and it wait at synchronize robot. But when I checked in EPMDocument then nothing happens, workflow not proceed , It holds process at synchronize robot. does anybody have idea ?
