Drawing Type for ACL
I am trying to add some users with an ACL for their group to have read-only access to drawings in any state.
As an emergency fix, we put one user in the design group, which has read and write access to drawings and models. This is too much for this group of people.
They are in their own functional group at the Org level as we use their group for sign-off on Change Requests. They want to see the drawings of the items that they are approving, not just the CR text.
I tried assigning them to a read-only group and that did not resolve the issue, but there may be something else with that group.
I tried adding a new ACL for in-work EPMdocumnets, but that is the wrong document type and it did not work.
Looking in Type Manager, I cannot find an icon that matches the drawing icon to get the proper type name for a drawing. Does anyone have a cross-reference list of the Windchill type name to a common engineering name?

Remove "Revise and Check out now" menu option
All,
Has any one successfully removed options from the Conflicts window when you modify an object in Creo Parametric that you do not have Checked Out?
We set the Creo config option to default "Continue", but we are looking to remove the "Revise and Check out now" option. Users are inadvertently creating new revisions on top of the one that they are supposed to be modifying. Now instead of working on rev B, they are working on rev C without even knowing.

Want Workflow Tasks to Put Resulting Objects Under Review
We are working on a Windchill workflow project and found that when a task is submitted for review, the resulting objects associated to the task remain In Process and available for further edits. This behavior is different from Promotion Requests where the associated objects are also placed Under Review.
We prefer to use Tasks because of the traceability they provide and allowing association of unrelated objects. However, we would like functionaltiy similar to Promotion Requests once they are submitted. Can anyone provide suggestions how this might be accomplished?

How to show a direct link to the representation file in search results
Greetings Gurus,
I am wondering if anyone has discovered a way to show a direct link to the viewable file (in our case the PDF) for a CAD drawing in the search results or any other view for that matter?
We recently had a member of our user community say the number one enhancement they would like to see in Windchill is the ability to directly open the PDF (resulting from published CAD drawing) directly from the search results table. It is too many layers down to actually be able to open the PDF file in adobe.
I was thinking maybe using Alias attribute on EPM document to show a link to the associated viewable file?
Any help is appreciated.

Support for updating Windchill Workgroup Manager without uninstallation
Users often find that, uninstallation & re-installation of Windchill Workgroup Manager is a tedious task with lot of interaction required when PTC posts newer WWGM-CPS.
PTC has taken into consideration this problem & from Windchill 11.0 M010 onwards, we have enhanced to update WWGM on client system without un-installation of WWGM Client in many of the user scenario's !!!
Below illustration/examples helps you to understand this enhancement.
- The following update scenarios are supported:
- Updating Windchill Workgroup Manager from 11.0 M010 to 11.0 M010 CPS
- Updating Windchill Workgroup Manager from 11.0 M010 to 11.0 M020
- Updating Windchill Workgroup Manager from old 11.0 M010 CPS to later 11.0 M010 CPS
- You can add new CAD WGM modules to an existing Windchill Workgroup Manager
- Example1: When SolidWorks WGM is installed, adding NX WGM
- Example2: When SolidWorks 2015 WGM is installed, adding SolidWorks 2016 WGM
- Known limitations:
- You cannot remove the installed CAD WGM module when updating Workgroup Manager. You need to uninstall to remove the installed CAD WGM module
- Downgrading to lower version of Windchill Workgroup Manager is not supported. The installer will detect the version of the existing installation and will block downgrade to lower version.
- Example: When Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.0 M010 CPS02 is installed, updating it with Windchill Workgroup Manager 11.0 M010 CPS01 installer is not supported. Uninstallation of the previous Windchill Workgroup Manager version is required.

AfterEDRloader
I have set up the AfterEDRloader according to CS216668.
Everything is working fine. My pdf is shown as an attachment.
But I want to add the lifecycle state in the filename. This should not be that hard to do?
I guess I just need to modify the AfterEDRloader.java file but I dont know how exactly.
Anyone with experience of the AfterEDRloadermethod?

Security Labels Command line tool question
I am running 10.2 M020. When I try to run the command java wt.access.UpdateSecurityLabels -inputFilePath="F:\doc_security_set.xlsx" -allVersions It ask me to login in. I have tried my wcadmin account, my admin account and my personal account who is also a site admin. I receive the Error: Unable to connect to the Windchill server. Contact your administrator to
start Windchill before you retry. Windchill is up and running fine. I have verified that all these accounts belong to the site admin group. The install guide says to set this property
wt.access.UpdateSecurityLabels.authorizedParticipant or it defaults to the Site Admin group. Has anyone else ran into this problem.

is there a possibility to mention the import job number, done via importable spreadsheet, in the part history?
As I import e.g. a BOM there is only visible that something happend, but no possibility to mention anything in the comments.

Setting State on Resulting Items within Change Task
After a change task has been approved by the internal review I would like the resulting objects to have their lifecycle state set to a different lifecycle state that would limit access, lock them down and prevent users from altering them while they await further approval. Any ideas?

How do I download all objects associated with BOM in Windchill?
I work in Sourcing and quite often need to create RFQ - Request for Quote with suppliers that need complete product specifications to go with it.
Given a multi-level product structure, is there a feature in Windchill that allows me to download all related objects (drawings, material specs, etc.) at once?
Currently, I am going item by item in the product structure and downloading one document at a time.

Publishing Rules Question
We are using some publishing rules to create DXF and STP files for CAD publishing. When we apply additional rules to only create the DXF/STP files only at certain states (Released and Pre-Production Release), it does not work as expected. If I manually publish the CAD while at the target state, the DXF/STP files get created. If I Set State or Promote the CAD to the target states, the viewables are derived from the non released state and the DXF/STP files do not get created. Is there a method to enforce the publishing rules upon Set State/Promote/ECN to the n target state?

How do make a user a workflow administrator or the right to create templates?
I created a Product in my production server that separated from the rest of the other products. I have set up a Team and given them access restrictions so that they don't mess up or go into the other product folders. The problem is, I am trying to grant one user the ability to create workflows and templates but he cannot see them. I tried following the procedure in CD33694 "How to grant permission to user to be a workflow administrator in Windchill PDMLink" (https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS33694&art_lang=en&posno=1&q=how%20to%20grant%20a%20user%20wor…)
but there is no "Prinicipal Administrator" present under site/utilities view when I am logged in as Site and Org Admin.
There is a foot note saying, "It will be necessary for the user to have access to the Utilities menu such that they can access the workflow templates. At a minimum, the user would need to be in a context management role (product / library manager)" can someone point me in the right direction how to do that without giving them access to the whole product workflows and templates for the entire site please?

How do I set revision of imported legacy cad data to the "current revision", say Rev B.2 for example?
I have legacy data from Pro IntraLink that I want to import into Windchil PDM Essentials.
However, most of the legacy data is not at Rev A.1.
So how do I import the legacy data and set at a revision higher than Rev A.1...say Rev B.2 for example.

Windchill 10.0 Java client support
We are running Windchill 10.0 m040 and have run into an issue with incompatible Java installs on some users machines who are running another program that required them to have Java 8 update 66 installed.
In trying to get to a common Java environment between the 2 programs, what version and update is the highest that will work with Windchill 10.m040?
We are in the early planning stages of upgrading to Windchill 11.0 m010, but like my manager just said, it is a low priority and the time frame slips as other things impact what I have time to work on. I do plan on upgrading by the end of March 2017, but even that can slip again.

CCA/PCB Detailing in Creo
We are currently looking to enhance out processes in the MCAD/ECAD arena. Currently, we have ECAD designs (CCA and PCBs) managed as WTDocuments. It has worked well for a long time. I am looking at the WGM for Cadence but I have a question about detailing. Where do most people detail their CCA and PCB drawings? Has anyone taken the step to do all of their detailing in Creo?
This is what I am looking at. Traditional design takes place in Allegro. Where we would normally have exported that information to AutoCAD for detailing, it would be done in Creo. The WTDocument held all the content before (Allegro data, AutoCAD drawing, PDF and ODB++) via primary content and attachments. In the new model, the IDX file creates the 3D model which is shown on the drawing along with and DXF exports from Allegro for fine detailing. The Allegro design and ODB++ data can be archived as attachments to the Cad Document. I am not an EE so please excuse my over-simplification.
Thoughts? Would this approach be compatible with an eventual switch to a WGM integration?

Form Based Authentication and windchill command line utilities
Anyone out there has had success implementing the now PTC supported form based authentication (CS110583) with Windchill and the wcadmin account ?
Windchill command line tools that need authentication such as BulkIndexer, WindchillLoader, WinDU, etc are not working and PTC is does not have
support documentation for it.
