Document Management Integrations - Anyone Considering Office365?

PTC recieves a fair amount of questions about providing an integration to Office365 lately. I'm curious if there's folks out there using Office365 now and what type of connectivity you'd like to have with Windchill?

 

To me, the main difference is the option to use the Microsoft Office Web Applications instead of the locally installed Office applications and the content has a high probability of residing in the O365 cloud, OneDrive or an on-premise SharePoint implementation. The Office Web Apps are only supported on SharePoint and cannot be directly integrated into a non-SharePoint solution.

 

It seems like a "Send to Windchill" option would be nice to have, but I'm curious if there are any other use cases or needs people might have?

Baseline Problem

Hi Team,

 

i have come across some problem while creating ECN's in Windchill.

 

Here is the query, I require the Top Level Assembly part number which is in "In Work" state to "Design Release" state. While Doing this the associated sub assembly component part numbers also called and they are in "In Work" State. But i want to use the Sub assembly components in "Design Release" state, to process my top level assembly part number in ECN.

 

Please help me out to resolve this

"List choices order" for LDAP Groups

Hello

After uppgrading from ver WQS10.1 to WQS 10.2 the posibility ty select "List choices order" for LDAP Groups is no longer avaliable in the data definition setup, (se pictures bellow). Is this functionality removed for LDAP-groups in WQS 10.2 or is it my setup that is corrupted? Works for other list objects.

Request for help regarding Report to show the state of Objects in WVS Job Monitor

Hello Everyone

 

 

I am looking for some kind of report which can give me the state of each object in the WVS Job Monitor, specially for failed jobs. I have not worked a lot on Query Builder but I don't think we can get such a report from a QB report.

 

Do let me know if you need more info on this. I really appreciate any kind of help I can get on this.

Is anyone showing ECN approval on face of Drawing?

Greetings,

 

I am looking to show the Windchill ECN information in a table on the CAD drawing automatically.  We need to show the approval date and perhaps the description of the change in the revision block of a drawing.

 

My initial thought was to have the ECN workflow pass the ECN information into the EPM document attribute after the approval task.  Of course the EPM attribute would be designated or mapped to a property or parameter in the CAD file.  When the drawing gets published on the state change, the table would update accordingly.

 

Is anyone doing something like this or have a better idea?

Adding the Attachment and Structure Column Indicators to the Folder Browser

This is a quick video tip demonstrating how to add the Attachment and Structure column indicators to the folder browser in Windchill 10.2. These columns are not on by default and often go unnoticed since there is such a long list of columns that can be displayed. When added, any document containing Attachments or Structure will be identified by either the Attachment or Structure icon in the respective column. The icons are links which will bring you directly to the Content tab or the Structure tab.

Note that i am looking to export team created at Site/Org-->Utilities->Team Administration not context team.(not specific context team...).

Cognos Error when running any report

I have a strange Cognos error that PTC is having a hard time diagnosing. I have Cognos installed correctly and double checked all of the db.properties. I can also successfully login to Cognos's web UI and update the model/load reports. Authentication works fine as well. See the error below:

How to download all visualizations

Hi Community,

in one of our current projects we need to download all visualizations available in Windchill. As we noticed visualizations in windchill are not connected to the filevault via database tables.

 

How can we get to all the visualizations available in windchill? They may be available in the file vaults, since there are a lot of files in file vaults, not available in epm document file tables, but where can i get the real file names?

Cognos Reporting : Prompt Page

Hi,

 

I am in the process of creating a prompt page for a Cognos report. I*E task is the data source for the same. I know, one can create a prompt page by simply adding @param to the task

Ex:

@param java.lang.String Number

 

The above provides a simple text box on the prompt page. Would you be able to tell me how can we have a drop-down or radio box as input on the prompt page ?

 

The values from the prompt page will be read in the I*E task before the task is fired. The input value will form a part of the where clause for the task.

Query Builder - How to use compound (union, unionAll)?

I am trying to create a simple report which shows attributes from a specific type and also attributes from one of his child type (sub-type). I could find one article at PTC with an example of unionAll but I could not replicate it.

It shows zero results, I've played a lot with it and it is driving me crazy...

Creo View default window size ?

Is it possible to change the default size when Creo View launches from the info page thumbnail ?

Looking at the URL it looks like:

If I manually change the '800" and '650' values at the end of the URL, Creo View will launch at the desired screen size.  Is there any way to modify the windchill files that control launching Product View to a new default window size ? We're running 9.1 and using Creo View 3.

I am trying to implement Auto Suggest picker (SuggestTextBox) on WTDocument/WTPart creation wizard in Windchill 10.1. Does anybody have done this before?

Forms in Windchill PDMLink (or ProjectLink)

I am looking for others in the PTC/USER community that have an interest in creating and managing forms in Windchill.  The business case I have in mind are a few forms that are related to parts and and it would be nice to have them in Windchill to take advantage relating them and integrating the forms' workflows and/or incorporating them in change object workflows.

 

If you interested in any situation where you would like a form as an object in Windchill, please send me a message or post to this discussion.

Windchill PDMLink 10.2 M030 Installed with errors at Business Reporting

Hi All,

 

I've installed Windchill PDMLink 10.2 M030. The installation has been completed  but  with leaving two error at Business Reporting and Business reporting language pack.

Unable to find the reason for this.

Request you to suggest me  how to resolve.

How do I create a new information element, copied from an existing, within an Information Structure? If I copy an information element, the document number carries with it.

I'm trying to create a new information element, copied from an existing information element, within an information structure.  If I simply perform a copy/paste, the resulting copy carries the same attributes (document number, revision, etc....) of the original.
