I am struggling to control how subtype documents are named, is there anyway to control this? Is there a way to add a note near the name filed with instructions?
How have you solved this consistency problem?

I created a simple assembly for checking purposes and a permanent reference was attached to the child even though I deleted that child from the parent assembly. I can't get rid of the assembly from my workspace. Please help.
Windchill does a great job of comparing the attributes (meta data) and relationships (Uses, References) between different versions / iterations of Documents and Parts.
I am looking for ways to compare content files (Actual file content not just file names) associated with multiple versions of documents.
Use Case: There is an intent to revise Specification documents and update the content of the primary and attachment files. During the review process, users have to track the changes on the newer revision (to make it easier for approvers) for review and apply all of teh changes at a later time.
It will be easier if we can just present the differences between two versions of file attachments (Just like how Software source control differences compute the differences in text of the software files).
In this case, I will know what files are involved. I am looking for a server side (Windchill / Doc Worker /Apache POI API/ Microft technologies etc..) technology that can accept teh files and publish the differences report that looks similar to Office Trach Changes functionality.
Not sure if it will move, but the PTC Product Calendar now is listing a release target for the next version of Windchill.
I'm also starting to see support documents discussing Creo Parametric 4.0. I wonder if maybe that will be released around the same time...
In some ways it's kind of funny. We are finally getting ready to jump from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 3.0. Maybe we should wait a little longer and just go from Wildfire 5.0 to Creo 5.0. Of course by then it will probably have it's name changed again.

My requirement is -
there is a soft attribute in my document creation page called drawing number.
This drawing number will take part number as input.
Then it will associate the part with the document.
I have been able to craete the link, the document is shown under Details Page of the Part under Related object tab->Described by Document where as my requirement is
the part should be shown in Document Details Page->Related Objects tab->Describes Parts
Is there a limit on how many folders can be created within a project space?
Thanks,
Craig
Hi!
I'd like to find all CAD documents which are haven't associations with WTparts. I need to find which CREO *.prt and *.asm files are not associated with WTparts by any association (owner, contributing image etc.). I've found Document - CS190123 which description is "Query builder to fetch all EPMDocuments which do not have a associated WTPart". It looks like a solution to my problem but when tested it the result was showing also drawings (*.drw), family table members (associated with wtparts) and cad parts which name is different from corresponding WTpart name (these are also associated with wtparts).
Could someone help me to adapt this query to my requirement?
Hello
I would like to know how to rename View Version , from design to something else
Thanks
I know that the model units of measure can not be shown in the model tree, but I'm looking to figure out is the units used for a model's materials density can be mapped and then reported on in Windchill. Perhaps mapping the model mass property includes units that can be reported on (or displayed) in Windchill? Ideas?
Thanks in Advance,
~Dan
I have a request to somehow post messages to the Windchill community of a future shutdown. I have seen messages displayed on the Windchill pages, my first intuition was to simply edit the Windchill logo image file, however, it would be nice if someone has figured a more dynamic approach.
