Subtype Visibility Windchill PDMLink10.2

I have a client that would like to create a specific subtype of the Promotion request in Windchill PDMLink10.2.  They want this Custom Promotion Request Subtype to only be available from a specific Library.

 

I understand that subtypes are controlled at either the site or the org level and that the ENTIRE org will gain the subtype.  This means that if I create the Custom Promotion Request Subtype at the Org level it will be available to all Libraries and Products in that org, not just the single Library we are concerned with.

 

Anybody have a workaround or solution to only make this subtype available for the single Library we are targeting? (the dropdown list for New Promotion Request should show not only this Custom Promotion Request but also the OOTB Promotion Request)

Downloading Document in Windchill

Hi all,

 

I just want to clarify things regarding documents attachments in windchill.

 

I upload a reference document to the main file in windchill. When I download the main file the attachment file to my main file is not included in my download. Is it really like that?. It supposed to be included on my download while I'm downloading my main file.

Office 32bit with DTI 64 bit Issue

All,

We have 64 bit Win 7 pro machines but our IT want us to run 32 bit MS Office 2010.  When we install DTI it has to be 64bit because of the OS

Has anyone seen issues such as word closing down with an error or Windows Explorer closing down unexpectedly?

 

We have seen this on a couple machines now so am now delaying rolling out DTI until we can fix this

Removing files from workspace fails

To all,

 

I am doing some testing of Windchill and Creo3, and have a question I hope someone can answer for me.

 

I checked out into my workspace some files. I am looking to REMOVE them from the workspace, but it is giving me a failure. I only have 3684 objects in my workspace, but the message I am getting in the Conflict Manager window (from the Event Manager information) is this:

 

  • The returned query result has exceeded the query limit, and only 100,000 results returned

 

I am not sure why I am getting this, when I am only trying to remove approximately 3700 files.

 

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Creo Publishing Issue

Hi all,

 

I import creo files in windchill thru creo.

After the Import and checkin the publishing/thumbnail is not working. What I need to do is to checkout the file and custom checkin and choose models and viewable so that the publishing/thumbnail worked.

The problem is the revision add even I didn’t change/modify anything just the custom checkin. Is there a way to import creo files in windchill and the publishing/thumbnail worked?

GUI validation on an IBA attribute value.

  1. I have defined an IBA attribute of type string.
  2. Added this to a "package" object in PDMLink/ProjectLInk 9.1
  3. When i create a package , i can see this attribute in GUI and can enter a string value.
  4. My requirement is to validate the string value entered using some validation logic through some java code and if the validation is passed then only submit the package for creation otherwise return back saying the error message.

 

Any idea how can i do this validation on an IBA attribute.

Configurable Assy Vs Family/Desing Table Vs OtherWay (CATIA/CREO)

ConfigurableAssy-Vs-FamilyTable-Vs-OtherWay.jpgIn terms of practice, the use of Family-Table or “Option and Variants” looks very similar, but in this case I would like to post my plant situation.

As you can see below, I show a Typical example of A-Sample development, in which we are use to create variants (-001; -002; eccecc) of the “Original Part Number”, we also did the same for some sub-Assy involved in this assy.

Myquestioasfollow :

 

1.I can usedashof the samePart.N°, (In case of Family table) but are bound by the use and manage complex task, ie. Managing -Simp Reps- and design table, in this case, I will have also in the "catia" than in "pro-e“ a very complex master rep, but:one Cad-3D one Cad Drawing with some generic and some specific view.

 

2.But, in all scenario (No very Complex assembly as 30/50 parts), I see the variant managementi, more related in the early stages of prototyping, where we need to produce a lot of variation of similar assemblies.

From this point of view I see more practice for example:

 

Create file-named (Parts or Assy) like 4XXXXXXX.000; -001 Manually, Same if are parts or assembly,

Create all the needed "3D-Cads" and single reference "2D-Cad", create all needed "assembly variants" manually from a 3D-CAD Autoring Application.

Later “when needed" load document in "WINDCHILL“ only a DIR for each Document with different Versions of the DIR.(no D-Matnrassigned at the moment)  (Note: Not all iterations are released to SAP).".

At the end, only needed Part-Numbers, (of Assy or parts) can be relased to SAP and linked to an A2Cxxxxx number (Wtparts),  and it’s single drawing.

 

The main question is, can I link different A2Cxxxx (SAP/Wtparts) or diferent 3d CAD Parts to the same single drawing ?

 

Linking One reference documents to multiple wtparts, and for reference documents In this case I speaking of "drawing" that normaly in "Windchill" are linked automaticlay to parts, but I suppose that this depends from some "Windchill" parameters.

In this way we should have more operational freedom, and we should do not need the family tables for assembly that I see as very coplicated. ??????

Hi,

 

Can somebody teach me how do I import .prt, .asm, .dwg, etc. files directly from windchill? I just tried to import .asm and .prt file thru creo. What I want to know is I want to directly upload my files using windchill.

Creo View 3.0 Lite Crash

Hello everyone,

 

my we are preparing to migrate to Windchill 10.2. With this we are going to put Creo View 3.0 Lite as our preview.

 

Creo View itself as a standalone programs works fine and stable. If you open it through Windchill through the IE there is also no problem.

 

BUT if you open files via creo browser which actually is nothing different but an IE (at least I think it is), it crashes after a few seconds of moving or rotating the model. If you move a model just in the preview window everything freezes for about 2-5 minutes.

 

I tried different Java Versions, workstations and grapic drivers. Also a WF5 M250 and a Creo 2.0 M120. No success.

 

Anyone having these problems too? Because I got no idea how to fix this.

 

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Creo view 3.0 M010 hangs while opening multiple drawings

When multiple drawings are opened from multiple sessions and multiple tabs of windchill,creo view hangs with a loading symbol.

Windchill version is 10.2M010. , Creo view lite is 3.0 M010 build15.

 

No information errors or warnings are seen in the trace logs.

 

Is there any limit on opening the no. of documents or on the no. of windchill sessions to be used to open drawings in creoview?

 

 

Any comments or information shared would be most helpful.

"Could not connect to the LDAP server '... ' on port 389.

User Control Access

Hi!

 

Can somebody teach me where/how to configure to control the access of each user?

 

For example:

User1- can open and print the document.

User2- can open,modify and save the document.

User3- can open, modify, save and print document.

(wt.util.WTException: java.lang.NullPointerException) cannot checkin

Ok, this crap is driving me freakin crazy!

 

I have users both in the US and in India that are receiving this error when trying to check in objects into the system. So of course having no clue as to what this meant other than it has the word java in it, I proceeded to let tech support try to help. They came back to me with the following change that they say needed to be made in Oracle:

I had IT execute this in the system and it completed successfully, but yet the problem still remains....

OIR default string value

Hi,

 

I'm trying to learn how to set up OIRs and I ran into a problem.

 

I'm setting up a Part subtype, Vendor Part, with a standard soft attribute acme.vendor.VendorPartComment as a multi-line string. I want the new part wizard to display "No comments yet." by default.

 

Currently, my OIR for the Vendor Part contains the following pertaining to the comments:

 

<AttrValue id="acme.vendor.VendorPartComments" algorithm="wt.rule.algorithm.StringConstant">

                    <Arg>No comments yet.</Arg>

</AttrValue>

 

<AttrConstraint id="acme.vendor.VendorPartComments" algorithm="com.ptc.core.rule.server.impl.GatherAttributeConstraints">

                    <Value algorithm="com.ptc.core.rule.server.impl.GetServerPreGeneratedValue"/>

</AttrConstraint>

 

I'm using the same logic for the part name, and the wizard is displaying a default name correctly, but not this comment. The only difference between the two that I see is that the comment is displayed as a multi-line string vs a single-line string for the name.

 

Furthermore, the "No comments yet." appears after I create a vendor part, just not in the creation wizard.

 

Any suggestions?
